3/24/1979

As the first full-week of Spring began, the top 5 on the chart had a whole lotta shakin' goin' on in 1979. Disco was in full swing and it reflected on the radio and in the top 5.

Peaches & Herb told us to "Shake Your Groove Thing" at #5, followed by the "Queen" of Disco, Donna Summer and her hit from "Thank God It's Friday," Heaven Knows. The lone non-disco survivor was "What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers at #3. At #2, the song that had spent 2 weeks at #1 and would return to that spot 2two weeks later. It would also go on to become an "anthem" for women all over the world, Gloria Gaynor's, "I Will Survive." The group at number one this week were no strangers to the top spot. They kicked off the year with their hit, "Too Much Heaven." It would be 9 weeks later they returned with the #1 this week.

Enjoy the Bee Gees with "Tragedy."
