We are all aware that at 12 Midnight on New Years Eve the giant crystal ball drops in Times Square to ring in the new year.

What you might not know is that other cities all around the United States have things they drop (or raise) at Midnight to celebrate the beginning of the new year.

As we say goodbye to 2013, let's take a look at 13 other cities and what they will be dropping tonight.

1. Sarasota, Florida: A glowing pineapple

2. Atlanta, Georgia: A Peach

3. Raleigh, North Carolina: A 900-pound acorn made from copper and steel

4. Mobile, Alabama: A 600-pound Moon Pie

5. Nashville, Tennessee: A 15-foot-tall music note

6. Houston, Texas: A star is raised, not dropped, at Midnight

7. Plymouth, Wisconsin: An 80-pound decorated cheese wedge.

8. Orange County, California: An Orange is dropped

9. Boise, Idaho: A potato the size of a car will be dropped

10. Show Low, Arizona: A 2 of clubs.

11. Manhattan, Kansas: an apple-shaped ball made of aluminum

12. Cedar Falls, Iowa: A large cedar that is lowered by a chain

13. Port Royal, Pennsylvania: A sprint car is dropped

Here is to a very safe and prosperous New Year.

Happy 2014!
