Having a hard time getting to sleep lately? The results of a recent survey suggest that Adele might be able to help you get a decent night's rest.

The 'Skyfall' singer spent most of 2012 on top of one chart or another, and as the NME reports (via Capital FM), she's just topped another one: In a study conducted by the Travelodge motel chain, a majority of the 2000 travelers surveyed chose her music when asked which songs they most prefer listening to while falling asleep.

If that seems like kind of a backhanded compliment, take comfort in the knowledge that Adele's at least in good company: Previous poll winners include Coldplay, who received top honors in 2008 and 2010 while on their way to selling 15 million records worldwide. Perhaps we're all just looking for a little gentle respite from this crazy world of ours, and a few minutes of 'Rumor Has It' or 'Fix You' is what it takes to get there.

A Travelodge spokesperson suggested as much in a suitably sleepy-sounding press release, summing up the poll results by saying, "After a long stressful day, it's essential that you de-stress to aid sleep -- and listening to music will help focus your attention and assist your body and mind to relax." An "expert" from the Edinburgh Sleep Center added, "Results from various sleep studies, undertaken with a variety of male and female groups, has indicated that listening to soft, relaxing music at bedtime leads to a number of different benefits to a night's sleep."

Funnily enough, "soft, relaxing music" doesn't account for everything on Travelodge's list -- respondents' top 10 choices also included the peppy pop of boy band One Direction and the decidedly non-soft, non-relaxing tones of Guns N' Roses. Check out the complete list below, and let us know how it jibes with your own bedtime playlists.
