The thought of having to go an renew your driver's license is a living nightmare.  The thought of having to sit there for hours at a time is a headache in itself.  Well, the Texas Department of Public Safety wants to improve customer service by extending hours.

With a large population like Amarillo has, any errand that involves the driver's license office can be a dreaded errand.  It is a known fact that people hate going to the DPS office.  Someone has taken notice and have decided to add extra time to get stuff done.

The driver's license office at 4200 Canyon Drive has a new set of hours for your convenience.  They will now be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

This will give a little extra time to replace, renew or get a driver's license or id.  I've often heard the DPS office being compared to the emergency room, neither are fun.

Many people don't realize that you don't have to go up there for several things.  With today's technology, you can do a lot online.  You can renew, request a duplicate, change your address and few other things right on your computer.

In an effort to better serve customers, the hours are now longer.  But if I were you, I'd try to avoid going in at all costs.
