Amarillo is a great place to live, with that said, that doesn't mean that Amarillo is without crime.  Amarillo's crime seems to be getting worse everyday.  However, the Amarillo Police Department does want to keep our city safe and that is why they are participating in this year's National Night Out.

National Night Out is a program through the National Association of Town Watch and it benefits neighborhood watch programs.

National Night out helps our communities team up with our police to help make our neighborhoods more safe and safer places to live.

This year's National Night out is on Tuesday, October 4th and different communities have teamed up with our local police to have a get together in their neighborhood to get to know the neighbors and learn more about neighborhood watches.

Amarillo Police will be attending different events throughout town.  If you have an organization or a neighborhood watch program you want involved in National Night Out then you are encouraged to contact Officer Jeb Hilton at 806-378-4257.  He will then schedule and officer to come to your get together.

If you don't have an event in your area on Tuesday, you can always attend an event going on at our local Target Store, 8201 I-40 W.  They will be serving up hot dogs and you can get an ID made for your child, plus bouncy houses for the kids.  Amarillo Police officers will be at the event as well as members of the Potter/Randall 911.  They will have information on neighborhood watch programs.
