We have all seen or at least heard of the movie 'The Purge.'  Well, rumors have started circulating about a real life purge happening in Texas.  But is it true or just rumors?

'The Purge' is a horror movie where the government suspends all laws for a 12-hour period.  In the movie people commit crimes from stealing to killing, legally.  Well, several Amarillo residents have contacted us saying that they have received flyers talking about a Texas Purge.  I have actually seen a lot of different posts on Facebook and Twitter.  The hashtag #texaspurge has exploded with all kinds of comments and threats.  So is it real?

The whole real life purge started with a 13 year old in Louisville, Kentucky.  He tweeted a message that said:

“Whos trying get [sic] a Louisville Purge Started With Me ?”

After that, a flyer started circulating saying that the purge was coming to the town on August 15th.  Since then, flyers have made it to California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin and now Texas.

Some Texas flyers states that 'The Purge' will happen August 28th others say August 29th.  Officials say that Texans have no reason to be worried, but do we?  All other dates have come and gone without incident.

If you are worried (in the words of Antoine Dodson) 'hide your kids, hide your wife.'
