For those of you who were at the Amarillo Sox game and the unveiling of the new mascot, I’m sure you got a bit of a shock. Most of us, when we go to a professional sporting event, are expecting to see a humorous and wacky mascot to come out and take part in the festivities.

This was the case at the Amarillo Sox game, except for one small issue. The mascot looked nothing like the owner had planned.

All Amarillo Sox manager, Mark Lee, could say after Friday nights game was “Oh, what a night”.

Instead of the Sox mascot looking like a soft sock from head to toe, the design was a tad bit different. The bottom part of the ‘sock’ stuck out about two feet from the waist of the poor soul stuck inside.

Lee stated “It was not the way I wanted it. I’m very disappointed in the lady who did it, and I’ve told her so. She is going to fix it to the changes we want. I want to say on the record, if we offended anybody, I apologize.”

The costumes have been sent back and you can expect the new Amarillo Sox Mascots by July 3rd or 4th. I’m sure there will be a bit closer inspection on these mascots than their predecessor.
