Michael Bay Is Producing a ‘Dora the Explorer’ Movie
Hi, friends! Can you tell us where the Dora the Explorer movie is hiding? Did you say, “In Michael Bay’s bank account”? Very good! …But also: What?! Michael Bay, purveyor of glistening biceps, incomprehensible robo-action and explosives, is producing a a live-action (emphasis on ACTION, am I right) movie based on the popular animated series. You know, for kids.
What’s Leaving Netflix: November 2017
Alright, you know the drill: Just as the Netflix lords giveth, so too must they taketh away — which is to say that as dozens of new movies and TV shows hit the streaming service next month, several will be making their exit…possibly for good. November’s expiring titles include a handful of Wachowskis faves (including The Matrix trilogy), Twilight (sorry, YA lovers), Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, and all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

Steven Soderbergh Shares His Lucasfilm Rejection Letter From 1984
In 1989, a 26-year-old Steven Soderbergh changed the landscape of indie cinema with his feature debut, Sex, Lies, and Videotape. That’s a pretty impressive accomplishment, and one he might not have achieved if Lucasfilm had hired him back in 1984. Instead, the iconic studio behind one of the world’s most popular franchises rejected Soderbergh, as evidenced by a letter recently unearthed by the multi-hyphenate.
Ron Howard Reveals Official Title for Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff
Solo. That’s the title of the upcoming Star Wars Story spinoff that follows the adventures of a young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich. After months of speculation, a change in directors, and reshoots, Ron Howard finally revealed the official title of the project — formerly operating under the working title “Red Cup” — on his Twitter account today in a special message to fans.
‘Beetlejuice 2’ Summons a New Writer (And Yes, It’s Still in Development)
Cinema legend has it that if you say his name three times, Beetlejuice will appear. Given how often the Beetlejuice sequel has been discussed in the press, we should have like, eight more of these movies by now. And although the long-gestating project remains unofficial, Warner Bros. has brought on a new writer to take a crack at writing a screenplay worthy of luring Tim Burton and Michael Keaton back for more spooky fun.
How Arnold Schwarzenegger Tricked Sylvester Stallone Into Starring In a Very Bad Movie
Long before they were Expendable co-stars and friends, legend has it Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were embroiled in a feud. The two totally ripped action icons weren’t always so tight: In a story destined to become a Ryan Murphy TV show, Arnie and Sly were pretty competitive back in the day — so much so that Schwarzenegger was rumored to have tricked Stallone into starring in one of the dumbest movies of his career. According to Schwarzenegger, it’s not a rumor.
Thor and Hulk Meet Again in a New ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Clip
It’s not just the best scene in the first Thor: Ragnarok trailer — it’s the scene: Thor and Hulk are reunited on the battle planet of Sakaar, where they’re meant to engage in a gladiator-style fight to the death for the amusement of thousands of bloodthirsty fans (and Jeff Goldblum). Instead, Thor is pumped to see his “friend from work.” In a new, extended look at that scene, we see that not everyone shares the god of thunder’s excitement.
Kristen Stewart Wanted for Elizabeth Banks’ ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Reboot
You can’t really deny prospective appeal of Kristen Stewart playing a gun-wielding, gadget-toting, ass-kicking super detective, which makes today’s potential casting news pretty exciting. Elizabeth Banks and Sony are reportedly eyeing Stewart to play one of the three leads in their upcoming big screen reboot of Charlie’s Angels, but she’s not the only awesome name under consideration — obviously.
What’s Expiring From Netflix: October 2017
By now you’ve probably heard that 30 Rock is leaving Netflix Instant, and if you’re anything like me, you are distraught. Inconsolable, even. The good news is that we still have Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Parks and Recreation, so there’s that, at least. Anyway, 30 Rock isn’t the only title expiring from Netflix in October, so let’s commence the mourning, shall we?
New Netflix Instant Releases: October 2017
Let’s just get this out of the way up front: Yes, the highly-anticipated second season of Stranger Things is coming to Netflix in October. If you’re a fan of the ’80s throwback sci-fi series, that’s probably the only new release you’re thinking about right now...
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ TV Spot: Thor Assembles a New Team
Following yesterday’s debut of eight new (and totally rad) character posters, Marvel has unleashed a new sneak peek at Thor: Ragnarok. The special look at the sequel premiered during last night’s NFL season opener, and somewhat appropriately opens with Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster touting the “main event” — which is, of course, the gladiator-style battle between Thor and his work friend, Hulk. Oh, and also there’s a giant wolf?!
