Mommy Blogger April B. – Always Keep It Classy
Ohhhhhhhh social media. Much like my creaky knees, it's one of the many things that reminds me of my age. Every time I log on, I am horrified by at least one thing posted by at least one twenty-something. My tolerance for certain behaviors just keep shrinking.
Mommy Blogger April B- Seeing Beyond the Frustration
Sigh. I think the hardest thing about being a parent is there's no darn crystal ball. There's no instruction manual. There's no FAQ's. No help desk. No troubleshooting matrix. Nothing. We can Google and read books and ask for advice... but at the end of the day, it all comes down to gritting your teeth, making a decision and hoping it was the right one.
Mommy Blogger April B. – My Goal: Travel All 50 States With My Kids
I've been hanging on this blog a lot lately: travel50stateswithkids.com. The whole site is built around the concept of taking kids to all 50 states--in as little as 12 trips even. I know, sounds crazy, right? But I have to admit, I'm kind of digging it. There are numerous clubs for this, by the way. Google it!
Mommmy Blogger April B. – The 30 Something Me
I'm feeling a bit like a curmudgeon, of late. I think it's that spring has come crashing through like a tilt-a-whirl flinging me from corner to corner of my proverbial seat in life. And I'm someone who gets motion sickness very easily, mind you. Like, sick from a bouncy house sick. I once got sick sitting in a parked car on a windy day. True story. And, so here comes spring, that crazy perfect sto
Mommy Blogger April B. – What’s On Your Bucket List
All the mayhem this week has brought to our nation--and our state--has made me do some thinking about the fabled "bucket list." I then remembered I actually have a note on my phone entitled "bucket list." It's a work in progress. Only one thing has been crossed off (learn to make sushi--thanks, husband!) I don't ever look at it, unless I'm adding something. And I certainly don'
Mommy Blogger April B. – Is Turning the Other Cheek Always the Answer?
This past weekend, I sat down with my kids and watched the documentary, "Bully." Bully is a film that documents epidemic of bullying in US schools. It follows five students and their families and chronicles the effects of bullying on their lives.
Mommy Blogger April B -Favorite Spare Time Moments
One of my favorite things to do in my "spare time" (which is the time when I eat breakfast. Hey, it alters my mood if I think i have some actual free time) is catch up on my favorite mom reads. Books, blogs, magazines... Sometimes I'm hoping to glean some advice or parenting tips. But mostly, I just want to relish someone else's sticky fingered reality for a few fleeting moments.

Mommy Blog April B – Aging Gracefully
As I purchased a $25 jar of anti-wrinkle cream the other day to take charge over some fine lines that are becoming noticeably less fine, I couldn't help but feel resentful... like I was forced to buy it. It feels like men are allowed to age and no one thinks anything of it. Sure there are a few men who try to maintain their youth and take it just a little too far. Hello, Kenny Rogers.
Mommy Blogger April B. – When it Rains
Ever feel like you're caught in a figurative monsoon? It has certainly been one of those weeks for me. Nothing that ice cream or a cupcake or a funny conversation with one of my kiddos can't fix. I've just found myself tripping over a bunch of messy odds and ends that were also tied up with some bad luck.
Mommy Blogger April B. – Parenting Isn’t ‘One Size Fits All’
In the last couple of weeks, a particular viral Facebook post has been bugging me. If you're on Facebook, I'm sure it's crossed your newsfeed. You might've even shared it. It's the one that's an open letter to the mom sitting at the park playing on her iPhone while her kids do all sorts of cute things. It's sweet and sappy and really gives the mom a good finger wagging for missing out on her daugh
Mommy Blogger April B. – Conversations in the Car with a 4-Year Old
You know what I'm gonna miss most someday? All the conversations in the car with my kiddos. When it's just me and one of them, one-on-one, I learn a lot about them... who they are, what they like, what they DON'T like.
Mommy Blogger April B. – Snow Day: A Pictorial
As many parents discovered this week, snow days are fun until there's more than one of them. It's at that point, children become caged animals and no amount of movie watching or cookie baking will pacify them. So on Tuesday, while the rest of the Panhandle began to unearth itself from our massive snow, I made peace with the realization I would have to get dressed and that I would have actually go
