March 15th, Julius Caesar murdered, the escalator was patented, country star married a TV star.

44 B.C. – Beware the Ides of March:  JULIUS CAESAR was stabbed to death in the Roman Senate by a group of SIXTY conspirators.  Et tu, Brute?

1892 – The ESCALATOR was patented by lazy genius inventor Jesse W. Reno of New York.

1966 – At the 8th annual Grammy Awards, TOM JONES was named Best New Artist,  FRANK SINATRA took Album of the Year for “September of My Years”.  Record of the Year went to HERB ALPERT & THE TIJUANA BRASS for “A Taste of Honey”.

1972 – “The Godfather”, starring MARLON BRANDO and AL PACINO, premiered in theaters.

1973 – “Tom Sawyer” was released starring JOHNNY WHITAKER. “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters”) as Tom Sawyer, and JODIE FOSTER as Becky Thatcher!

1977 – “Three’s Company” and “Eight Is Enough”. . . starring MARK HAMILL premiered on ABC.

1982 – THERESA SALDANA, of “The Commish”, then famous for playing Robert DeNiro’s wife in “Raging Bull”, was stabbed repeatedly by an obsessed fan.

(–She survived the brutal attack and later starred in the film based on her ordeal, “Victims for Victims:  The Teresa Saldana Story”, co-starring  ADRIAN ZMED!)

1985 – The first internet domain name (symbolic.com) was registered.

1985 - “Mr. Belvedere” debuted on ABC.

1994 – At the 8th Soul Train Music Awards:  TONI BRAXTON, BABYFACE, and SILK had the Best R&B Albums.

1999 – BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PAUL MCCARTNEY and BILLY JOEL were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

2003 - Country singer BRAD PAISLEY married “According to Jim” actress KIMBERLY WILLIAMS.  Today is their 8th Anniversary.

2004 – The late GEORGE HARRISON was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with Prince, Bob Seger, Traffic, ZZ Top and Jackson Browne.
