1892 – The ESCALATOR was patented by lazy genius inventor Jesse W. Reno of New York.
1966 – At the 8th annual Grammy Awards, TOM JONES was named Best New Artist, FRANK SINATRA took Album of the Year for “September of My Years”. Record of the Year went to HERB ALPERT & THE TIJUANA BRASS for “A Taste of Honey”.
1972 – “The Godfather”, starring MARLON BRANDO and AL PACINO, premiered in theaters.

1982 – THERESA SALDANA, of “The Commish”, then famous for playing Robert DeNiro’s wife in “Raging Bull”, was stabbed repeatedly by an obsessed fan.
