Beyonce continues her blogging streak on her website, writing an elegiac tribute to late Bee Gees’ co-founder Robin Gibb. The 62-year-old singer died on Sunday (May 20) after a long bout with cancer and intestinal surgery.

As a member of Destiny’s Child, Bey, as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, covered Samantha Sang’s 1977 hit ‘Emotion,’ which was penned by Robin and his brother Barry Gibb. You can hear the brothers’ unmistakable falsetto on the track which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the trio’s hey-day. Destiny Child’s remake appeared on their third LP ‘Survivor’ and peaked at No. 10 on the Hot 100 chart in 2001.

In her letter, Beyonce wrote:

The Bee Gees were an early inspiration for me, Kelly and Michelle. We loved their songwriting and beautiful harmonies. Recording their classic song, “Emotion,” was a special time for Destiny’s Child. Sadly we lost Robin Gibb this week. My heart goes out to his brother Barry and the rest of his family.

Love, B

Beyonce’s tribute follows her recent memoriam on fellow late disco icon Donna Summer.

It good to see Beyonce pay homage to artists who have influenced her music and career. The R&B queen is on an impressive writing tear on her blog. Let’s hope she keeps it up. Keep blogging, B!
