Bill Cosby’s ongoing legal battle has taken its toll on him. The veteran funnyman, who is scheduled to stand trial on sexual assault charges this month, is apparently blind and homebound.

According to Page Six, Cosby is suffering from a degenerative eye disease and is without sight. He's being cared for by his devoted wife, Camille.

"His alleged victims may take some solace in the fact that he’s in his own personal hell," an insider told Page Six. "He has been suffering from a degenerative eye disease and is completely blind...All his Hollywood friends have turned their backs on him."

"He is confined to his house in Pennsylvania, and the only person on his side is his wife, Camille, who is masterminding his defense," the source added. "His only friends are the small army of lawyers on his payroll."

Cosby's attorneys have not commented on these new claims, but during his preliminary hearing, the 79-year-old comedian has been escorted arm in arm by his handlers.

Cosby's degenerative eye condition is called keratoconus, a condition that causes the eye’s cornea to bulge. Since being diagnosed with the ailment, his health has been deteriorating.

On Monday (July 18), a judge in his civil case ruled Cosby will be allowed to sue Andrea Constand, the woman who claims the comedian drugged and raped her in 2004, for allegedly breaching a confidentiality agreement she signed with him after her settlement in 2006.

Either way, this looks like a sad ending to an entertainer who was once beloved by everyone.
