Billy Connolly, who you may know from his folk-singing, comedic work or his role in the cult hit 'The Boondock Saints,' has been diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer (for which he has already undergone surgery) as well as Parkinson's disease.

The news was released in an official statement on Connolly's website which reads, "Billy Connolly recently underwent minor surgery in America after being diagnosed with the very early stages of prostate cancer; the operation was a total success, and Billy is fully recovered."

"In addition, Billy has been assessed as having the initial symptoms of Parkinson's disease, for which he is receiving the appropriate treatment," the statement read.

The statement continued on to say that each diagnosis would not "affect" or "inhibit" Connolly's work, adding, "[Billy] will start filming a TV series in the near future, as well as undertaking an extensive theatrical tour of New Zealand in the new year."

Connolly recently did voice work for the Pixar movie 'Brave' and will feature in both 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' and 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again' in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
