'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star and all-around icon Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to TV once again this fall with CBS' forthcoming Robin Williams comedy 'The Crazy Ones,' thought naturally diehard 'Buffy' fans keep hope alive for a return to the Joss Whedon-helmed franchise. Beloved cult classic 'Veronica Mars' finally had its movie brought to life via Kickstarter, so what does SMG have to say about future 'BtVS' movie prospects?

“If there ever was the right story, we would do it,” said Gellar to E! while promoting 'The Crazy Ones' at the ongoing Television Critics Association press tour. “But the thing with 'Buffy' is that 'Buffy' was a movie, and it ultimately didn’t work as a film. The story works better over time.”

Naturally, fans point to the recent success of the 'Veronica Mars' Kickstarter movie as a trailblazer for a cinematic 'Buffy' resurrection, but even in the cases of 'Chuck' and 'Pushing Daisies,' fans often fail to take into account the necessary capital for such an FX-heavy genre series. Not to mention, Joss Whedon has been a bit busy lately, and no self-respecting Buffyverse fan would want to see the franchise return without Whedon at the helm.

"It's kind of wonderful," Gellar told The Huffington Post in May. "I'm incredibly proud of that show -- proud of everybody on it, of what we did...You can't be prouder of that show. It still holds up in reruns and I'm blessed every day. I've been pretty lucky."

Well, what say you? Would you want to see a 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Kickstarter come out of the coffin, or have the comic books been enough to continue the story? Tell us what you want to see from the Buffyverse future in the comments!
