Where Will & Grace star Debra Messing is concerned, if you are not an "unenlightened straight, cisgender, white man, you are a target" under Donald Trump's administration. So, she made the point loud and clear at the 2017 GLAAD Media Awards Saturday night (May 6).

Messing, who received the Excellence in Media Award, took particular aim at the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, who was been routinely criticized by the liberal community for pushing feminist ideals only when they seem to suit her. Messing pressed Ivanka to be more forthright about her convictions, and insisted that actions speak louder than words.

“It’s not enough to simply say that women’s issues are important to you,” she said. “It’s time to do something. You can change the lives of millions of women and children just by telling your dad stories about real people who are suffering.”

“You can’t just write ‘#womenwhowork’ and think you’re advancing feminism,” she added. “You need to be a woman who does good work #saywhatyoumeanandmeanwhatyousay...Imagine how you’ll feel, sitting at Passover seder, if you can tell your children that you fought for justice and freedom.”

On a brighter note, Messing also said she's thrilled for the return of Will & Gracewhich NBC will revive this fall. The actress noted that it's high time to bring back the show that heralds the LGBTQ community.

"I know that I need to laugh," she said. "It's been a stressful year and I want to make people laugh, and I think more than anything that's what we are all feeling right now, is we want to make people laugh."
