As our cell phones evolve to perform more and more functions, we become more and more tethered to the devices.

In fact, our phones have become so much a part of us that the majority of people report feeling ‘phantom’ phone vibrations during times in which nobody is actually trying to contact them.

An Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne study of 290 undergraduates found that 89 percent have felt the phantom buzz sensation at least once — usually about once every two weeks.

According to the study, those who attached the most emotional importance to their text messaging are most likely to feel the faux-buzz.
