I am almost positive that this is going to be one of those posts where I kind of get on a soap box.  We are kicking off a new year.  I mean it is 2016.  IT'S 2016!  How did that happen?  Well, as always people make resolutions to get healthy in a new year and lose weight, get in shape, eat healthier.  I commend those that do.  However, I think some of the roadblocks that go into losing weight and eating healthy is, it is just so unbelievably expensive.

Last year I made a commitment to lose weight and eat healthier and I did.  I'm still committed to that, however, that did not go without my grocery bills going way up.

It is sad that we live in a world where "experts and health professionals" are pushing people to have a healthier lifestyle, but consumers have to dole out an obscene amount of money to live that lifestyle.

One of my favorite snacks is almonds. I love almonds, they are a healthy snack, however, on a normal given day almonds are about $10 or more for 1 pound of nuts.  Now I can go and buy a bag of corn chips and bean dip for about $4.  I could go and get a 1 pound bag of skittles for about $4.

Let's talk chicken.  I went to the store the other day to get some chicken, I was gonna cook up a nice healthy meal for dinner with chicken.  Well when I went to pick up a package of chicken I would normally buy it was almost $9.  Heck I could have gone and gotten a dozen hot dogs with buns for about $3.   I could have gotten 3 cases of Ramen Noodles for what I would have paid for that chicken.

So in a world of people screaming, "eat healthly, lose weight,"  why aren't people screaming about the prices of healthier food.

US is one of the most obese countries in the world and I can see why it is, why would a person fork out $9 for chicken when they can feed their family of 4 at least two meals on $3.

You can get mac and cheese for about a $1 a box and that makes a quick and easy meal. But to make a salad with all the ingredients you are probably looking at $10.

I think the world has got it so backwards.

So with that said, I am going to go eat some almonds that I bought on sale and with a coupon, because that is the only way I can afford them.
