Amarillo’s homeless population has been the target of news headlines, lawsuits, and debate. This month, there is an opportunity to put all of that aside and just focus on helping someone in need.

On Saturday, June 30 in Elwood park, Food Not Bombs Amarillo will be hosting their third annual shoe drive. The event will be from 3 pm – 5 pm. They are wanting to collect lightly used walking shoes and socks. According to the event’s Facebook page, any other donations you may have will be accepted as well.

Also, on the event’s Facebook page, Food Not Bombs Amarillo does state that they accept donations every Saturday from 3 pm until at least 4:30 pm. The collection is in Elwood Park. They will be taking these donations every weekend until the June 30.

For more information visit the Shoe Drive Event Page or check out Food Not Bombs Amarillo on Facebook and on their website.
