The Fresno Grizzlies turned to the “dark side” on Saturday night. The San Francisco Giants Triple-A affiliate wore jerseysdesigned to resemble the helmets of Imperial stormtroopers from the Star Wars saga films during their game with the Las Vegas 51s, the New York Mets Triple-A team. No, the umpires didn’t dress as Darth Vader, but there’s always next year.

In addition to the special jerseys, the Grizzlies swapped out the bat normally included in their logo for a lightsaber, and they made several hilarious promotional videos, including one that featured stormtroopers taking batting practice while Darth Vader and Darth Maul observe. Watch one of the videos below:

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, Las Vegas had Mets’ prospect Zach Wheeler pitching, and Fresno lost the game, 2-1. A character named Kirk (Nieuwenhuis) hit the game-winning homer for the 51s, which may give Trekkies the final word (for now) in the longstanding Star Trek vs. Star Wars debate.
