Just yesterday we heard the news that FX's forthcoming vampire series adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's 2009 novel 'The Strain' had cast its female lead in 'Alias' alum Mia Maestro, and today FX continues to round out the cast. 'Titanic's Jonathan Hyde' and 'Inglorious Basterds' star Richard Sammel are the latest to join FX's buzzy 'Strain,' but what roles will the actors play?

Are you getting excited for FX's pilot adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's 'The Strain,' yet? We sure are, and despite the lack of official series order FX has added two more names to the project. Via The Hollywood Reporter, we've learned 'The Mummy' star Jonathan Hyde and 'Inglorious Basterds' star Richard Sammel are the latest to join the cast, which already includes 'House of Cards' Corey Stoll and 'LOST's Kevin Durand.

‘The Strain’ follows Dr. Ephraim “Eph” Goodweather (Stoll), a CDC operative who investigates a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Hyde will play the series regular role of Eldritch Palmer, an elderly tycoon and the third-richest man in the world who has been an invalid since childhood, and seeks to gain immortality. Sammel will play Thomas Eichorst, a mysterious figure from Professor Abraham Setrakian's past whose re-emergence in New York is said to be no coincidence. For now, the role of Setrakian himself has yet to be cast.

Former ‘LOST’ and current ‘Bates Motel‘ showrunner Carlton Cuse will helm FX’s adaptation, from a screenplay by del Toro and novel co-writer Michael Hogan. Hogan and Gary Ungar will also serve as executive producers.

‘The Strain’ has yet to receive an official series order, but what say you? Would you tune in for Gullermo del Toro's new TV project? Tell us what you want to see from ‘The Strain’ in the comments!
