FX’s ‘The Strain’ Scares Up Extended Trailer: “That Line Has Now Been Crossed!”
We've seen a few brief trailers for horror master Guillermo del Toro's forthcoming FX vampire drama, 'The Strain,' but like the disease itself, the threat of new footage just keeps on spreading. Get another look at the villainous "Master," as well as the shadowy figures and lead characters of 'The Strain' with a new full-length trailer for FX's forthcoming horror series!
Focusing heavily on the dead plane investigation we've seen in so many other trailers and photos, the latest footage from 'The Strain' also finally unmasks the mysterious "Master" figure leading the vampiric charge, showing the hooded antagonist from behind as he confronts the shadow figures supporting his arrival.
Based on del Toro’s 2009 novel trilogy, ‘The Strain’ follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (‘House of Cards‘ Corey Stoll), a CDC operative who investigates a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
Also present among the cast are Regina King, Sean Astin (‘Lord of the Rings‘), Roger Cross (‘24‘), Leslie Hope, Robert Maillet (‘Pacific Rim‘), Mia Maestro (‘Alias’), Lauren Lee Smith, Miguel Gomez, Kevin Durand (‘LOST‘), David Bradley (‘Game of Thrones,’ replacing John Hurt) and Richard Sammel (‘Inglorious Basterds’). Former ‘LOST’ and current ‘Bates Motel‘ showrunner Carlton Cuse will helm FX’s adaptation from a screenplay by del Toro and novel co-writer Michael Hogan.
'The Strain' won't officially arrive until Sunday, July 13, but keep the threat spreading in the full-length trailer above, and tell us in the comments what you want from Guillermo del Toro's terrifying new vision of horror!
