"It's crazy," Gallo said. "To be honest, I didn't expect it to be that good of a night. So it's pretty amazing, it still really hasn't hit me yet, but yeah, it was definitely a lot of fun, a lot of adrenaline. I'm glad it's out of the way."

Gallo’s first big league hit gave Texas a lead that it never relinquished. After consecutive singles by Prince Fielder, Mitch Moreland and Elvis Andrus, Gallo hit a hard ground ball that got by Chicago 1B Adam LaRoche, scoring Fielder and Moreland.

Gallo’s home run, a two-run shot, reached the upper deck in right field was estimated to have traveled 445 feet.

"Yeah, he looked pretty good to me," said White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija of Gallo. "He definitely likes the ball in. We threw three in there and he hit every single one of them. He looks like a heckuva player."

Samardzija (4-3), who allowed nine runs (all earned) on 12 hits with one walk in five-plus innings of work, also gave up a solo homer to Shin-Soo Choo.

Carlos Corporan, who came on in relief of starting catcher Robinson Chirinos, clubbed a three-run homer in the eighth to cap off the offensive onslaught. Coporan went 2-for-4 and picked up a career high five RBI.

Chirinos was hit  on the right hand by a  Samardzija pitch in the first inning. X-rays were negative and he will be evaluated on Wednesday.

All 10 Ranger players had at least one base hit as the team collected a season-high 19 hits.

All of the offense overshadowed a solid pitching performance by starter Colbie Lewis (5-3). Lewis allowed two runs, on a two-run homer by Adam Eaton, giving up six hits and four strike outs in seven innings recording four striking outs.

Jon Edwards allowed one hit as he worked a scoreless eighth and Anthony Bass worked a perfect ninth to close things out.

Game two of the series will feature White Sox ace left-hander Chris Sale (4-2, 3.66 ERA) against the Rangers up-and-coming potential ace Nick Martinez (4-1, 2.03). The game is slated for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch from Globe Life Park.
