Georgia High School Student Suspended After A Parent Misinterpreted His Facebook Post As A Threat

A Crawford County High School student in Roberta, Georgia, sits at home today after being suspended from school for a facebook post.

John George III, was going to surprise his classmates by dressing up as Santa and handing out candy canes at school.  However, that all came to an abrupt stop after he posted to his facebook that his school should be expecting a surprise.

I completely understand that everyone is on edge after the tragedy in Connecticut.   I fully understand why the school chose to suspend the student.  I do believe that it was completely stupid to post something like that on facebook and I'm sure the student wasn't even thinking that it could be taken as a threat.  However, should he have been suspended?  I'm not so sure.
