For an HBO series about twenty-somethings in Brooklyn, HBO's 'Girls' certainly likes to keep things under wraps in between seasons. As production on season 3 of the Lena Dunham-scripted series continues, 'Fruitvale Station' star Melonie Diaz is the latest guest star confirmed to join the cast in a hush-hush role, and the actress had some interesting words for Dunham's directorial style along the way.

"It was amazing. Lena is a monster in the best way," said Diaz to HuffPostTV, unaware of how savvy media types would inevitably twist her words for headlines. "I'm always impressed by her. The fact that she can be casting and writing and then directing. She's just great." As tends to be the case with most 'Girls' guest stars, HBO is keeping the actress' role on the series a secret, at least for now.

Elsewhere, little is known of ‘Girls’ season 3 other than its 2014 airdate, expansion to 12 episodes, and casting calls that suggested a character would somehow end up in rehab. ‘Doctor Who‘ star Richard E. Grant will take a role in the 2014 premiere as “Jasper,” while (former) ‘The New Normal‘ / occasional ‘Girls’ star Andrew Rannells also expects he’ll return, and ‘Mad Men‘ actor Jon Hamm‘s wife Jennifer Westfeldt has been observed filming as well. Gaby Hoffmann and Michael Zegen ('Boardwalk Empire') have been announced in unknown roles, with some speculation that Zegen will replace Christopher Abbott in the role of Charlie.

Well, what say you? Do the latest guest stars have your hopes up for 'Girls' season 3, or will the series prove as controversial and divisive as ever in its 2014 return?
