'Guardians of the Galaxy' is a far more mysterious project than any of the other Marvel Phase 2 films because we literally have no idea what to expect. We pretty much already know what 'Thor: The Dark World' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' will look and feel like, but this? No clue. That's why every new piece of news can't help but feel huge. In a recent interview with Total Film, the recently cast Zoe Saldana revealed how she'll be bringing her character of Gamora to life...

So how, exactly, will Saldana embody a deadly alien assassin who's the last of her race? Motion capture? CGI? Nah. Good, old-fashioned makeup.

Since the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' lineup includes a talking mutant raccoon and a sentient tree, we knew that at least two the film's main characters would be complete digital creations. At least we now know that stars Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista will have some additional company on set in the form of an actual human being.

Of course, director James Gunn is a guy known for his love of practical effects, so it wouldn't surprise us if he tried to utilize makeup over CGI whenever possible. And that's a healthy philosophy. After all, why cast the lovely Zoe Saldana and then transform her into a bunch of pixels?

'Guardians of the Galaxy' begins filming soon and will hit theaters on August 1st, 2014. Check out Zoe Saldana's full comments on the pic in the video interview clip below:
