Today is National Cat Day!  A day to celebrate our feline friends.   Let's face it cats are cats.  They just don't care.  If they want to cuddle they want to cuddle, if they don't they don't and they stay as far away from you as possible.  I have a cat, his name is Astro.  Well he's actually Ethan's cat, but he is a character.

You see Astro is this giant white cat.  He has a brown eye and a blue eye.  He's a very handsome cat.  I adopted him from the Amarillo SPCA as a Christmas gift for Ethan when he was younger.  The cat has been great for him and has been a great addition to our family.

However, the cat his its quirks.  His food bowl can be full but if that cat sees the littlest bit of blue at the bottom of the bowl, he thinks he needs more food and will meow til one of us walks over and covers the blue in the bowl with cat food.  Plus don't even think about leaving a glass of water sitting on the table or the bar.  That cat will run around knocking those cups over.  It is only cups fill with water nothing else.

I used to think my cat was social.  Absolutely not!  My friend Jennelle watches my pets when I'm out of town, and she kept telling me, "your cat hates me."  I was like, "no he doesn't."  Then one day I had some people over and the cat bolted and hid in the bedroom.  Poof!  He wasn't having any of it.

What can I say, he's a good cat and he loves Ethan.  He's so good with him and loves that kid.  However, the cat also has to spend time with me.  He'll spend half the night with E, then he'll sneak into my room and curl up in the curve of my belly (I sleep in a fetal position) and he'll just purr.

So here's to all the great cats on National Cat Day!  Share a picture of your cat with us!!
