Historic Rt. 66 Festival Returns to Amarillo

We have a great piece of history right here in Amarillo.  We all have heard about getting your "Kicks on Route 66".  Well Rt. 66 runs right through Amarillo and we want to celebrate it's history and it's heritage.  That's why you don't want to miss the Texas Rt. 66 Festival.

The festival takes place on Saturday, June 18th on 6th Street from 10am-4pm.

They will be shutting down the street to traffic and opening it up for a good time for the entire family.

Events include:

Car Show - if you are a car fanatic then come spend the afternoon checking out all the amazing cars, classic and new that will be on display and learn more about them from the owners.

Swap Meet- have something to swap, well then come check out the treasures you can find.

Antique Market- 6th St. is filled with awesome antique shops, but you just might find something amazing at the market they will have at the event.

Smash-A-Car - got some pent up frustration, well now you can take it out on a car.

Scavenger Hunt - A scavenger hunt on 6th St.  This has fun written all over it.

Games - the kids will have a blast in the game aread

Live Music - several of the venues on 6th St. will feature live bands

Costume Contest - come dressed in your best 50's - 60's costume for a chance to win great prizes.

Plus don't miss out on all the great food at the amazing restaurants on Rt. 66.

However, certain activities, food, and drinks will cost extra so bring some spending money.
