CIEE is a national organization that helps place international students with host families.  Amarillo has local experienced coordinators that can work with you to see if you would be a good fit to be a host parent/family.

The process is fairly simple.  If you are interested in becoming a host family, you first have to fill out an application to get the process started. You must also pass a background check.  Local coordinators will work closely with you and help you choose a student that would fit perfectly with your family.

Most families will serve as hosts to a international student from August - June, a full school year.

Plus all students are screen as well before they are accepted into the program.  They will have their own spending money and insurance.  You provide them a place to stay and sleep and meals, and of course mentoring.  You will be serving as their parents and family while they are here.

If you are interested, in becoming a host family, you must be at least 25 years of age and financially stable.  If you fit these criteria and you pass a background check you could be a host family for a student starting in August.  Plus, even if you are a single parent family, you can still host a international student.  If you have small children in the home, you can still host a international student, if all your children are grown and out of the house, you can still host a international student.

If you would like to be a host to an international student contact CIEE today.
