You know we have done this. You worked or stayed up late and only got 4 or less hours sleep. Then you get up early and feel awful.

If coffee is not getting you through day try these little tricks.

1.Natural light tells your body to stop producing melatonin, which is the hormone that makes you sleepy.  And at the same time, it ups your serotonin levels, which improves your mood and helps you focus.

2.  Take a cold shower.  It makes you breathe faster, which increases your oxygen intake and speeds up your circulation.

3. Eat at least two food groups at breakfast.  Something like cereal or an energy bar can give you energy.  Something with protein and fiber is better.

4.  Hold off the coffee for just a bit.  Your cortisol levels rise in the morning, which helps you wake up.  It's better to wait an hour or two before your first cup.
