A few weeks ago I asked my daughter, Faith, what she wanted for Christmas dinner. I expected an answer like: turkey, ham, or even Mexican food like tamales or enchiladas.

That is what I thought anyway. The answer I received was that she wanted lobster tails and crab legs. Oh and she loves mussels too.

I didn’t realize that this actually was a common Christmas dinner. As I was telling Penni Bentley, from the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, this is a common meal for her family. Even looking at the Market Street United Ad the week before Christmas. Yes, all this sea food on my list was on sale that week. Score!

So I went to Market Street and got 2 lobster tails that were on sale. I got another two of a bigger size. I bought 2 pounds of the King Crab legs and a pound and a half of mussels.

Yes, I know this is a ton of food for two people. But I intend to save some of the seafood in my freezer for another weekend meal! Since it will be the new year and I need healthy choices!

But this is Christmas so I am also serving mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh and my famous green beans! Green beans with bacon, mushrooms, garlic and onions. A recipe to die for! I know!

So even though I didn’t think this was going to be a traditional Christmas dinner....it may actually become OUR tradition!
