It’s Drive-In Theater Day! Take the Family to Tascosa Drive-In
Back on this day, June 6, 1933 the very first drive-in opened in Camden, New Jersey. Google even saluted the history of the drive-in today with their Google Doodle. One great thing about Amarillo is that it has a drive-in theater. The Tascosa Drive-In. It is the perfect place to take the family for some fun and the great thing about it, you get two movies for the price of one (that is if you can stay awake that long).
You can stock up on your favorite candy, snacks and drinks at your favorite store and bring them with you. You can bring the lawn chairs and sit outside your car. You can turn the bed of a truck into a bedroom and watch the movie from and air mattress. I have even seen people fire up the BBQ Grill and cook some burgers. Plus, if you want to bring your favorite pet you can bring them as well.
They do have a snack bar if you don’t want to bring your own and they have the cheapest prices on snacks than any other movie theater snack bar in town.
I don’t know about you but I like the idea of going to the drive-in. It’s a throw back to something cool from back in the day. I was going to take my son this past Saturday but the weather got a bit nasty looking so we opted not to go. However, I think we might go this Saturday since Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and MIB:3 is showing
I can only imagine how much fun the drive-in was back in the40′s, 50′s and 60′s.
When I think of the drive-in those movie clips pop into my mind.
Do you have any great stories about the drive-in. I would love for you to share in the comment section below.
