When it comes to this time of year we like our ghouls, goblins and ghosts.  Most people enjoy having themselves scared silly and they ask for it, by putting themselves in the strangest situation.  That's why we have so many haunted houses this time of year.  Another way we love to scare ourselves is watching scary movies.   I was watching The Walking Dead on AMC and they started advertising their Fear Fest Halloween Movie event and that got me thinking about the scariest movie ever.

I love a good scary movie, however recently the so called scary or horror movies that are being release aren't exactly scary.  I'm not exactly sure what makes a scary story, it definitely has to avoid the cheese and stupidity factor and a lot of those movies these day are nothing but cheesy and stupid.

I remember the first scary movie I watched was A Nightmare on Elm Street.  Freddy Kruger scared the crap out of me.  My cousin introduced me to this lovely movie and after watching this I never wanted to go to bed because A) this creeper showed up in your dreams B) this movie had the scariest song, "1, 2, Freddy's coming for you... and C) I had a waterbed at the time and I thought I would get sucked into my bed emulsified then shot up on my ceiling.   No you may be saying Lori that movie was cheesy and stupid, my answer would be, I was 7 when I saw it.

For me now, the scariest movies are the ones that could happen in real life.  I don't forsee a man with finger blades invading my dreams and killing me.  The ones that could happen like the serial killer stuff or the demonic stuff.  Those scare me the most.

One of the scariest movies to me is a movie called The Strangers, it came out in 2008 and starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.

This movie gives me nightmares.

Another movie that scared the daylights out of me was Paranormal Activity.   The original scared me because I do believe that demons do exist and yes I believe that something like this could happen.  The movie was quite scary, the next 100 they made, not so much.

So when it comes to scary movies, which do you think is the scariest?
