Katy Perry won’t simply be celebrating the nationwide release of her ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me’ 3D film over the Fourth of July weekend! The ‘Wide Awake’ singer will also celebrate America’s 236th birthday.

She will perform at the ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular,’ which airs on NBC. It is said to be the largest pyrotechnic display on the Fourth, and it will return to the Hudson River region to illuminate the NYC sky.

Country superstar Kenny Chesney has also been confirmed to perform.

This year’s theme is ‘Ignite the Night,’ and more than 45,000 pyro shells will be fired off during the 25-mintue display.

Tune in from 9 to 10PM on Wednesday, July 4, to catch the majestic fireworks display. Then hit the multiplex on July 5 to take in a screening of Perry’s doc.

“NBC is thrilled to have Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney join us in celebrating America’s birthday,” said Doug Vaughan, Senior Vice President of NBC Entertainment’s Special Programs and Late Night said in a statement. “These stars’ powerful voices and stage presence will serve as the perfect complement to Macy’s captivating visual artistry.”

While we’re sure the fireworks will be spectacular and jaw-dropping, we’re tuning into to see what Perry wears. She will undoubtedly incorporate recognizable American symbols, like the flag, into her outfit. Maybe she’ll figure out a way to factor fireworks themselves into her attire? Her clothes are often as entertaining as her songs, so hopefully, her outfit will be interactive.

Perry did wear a one-shouldered, satin American flag dress (and smooched a sailor) during Fleet Week this year.

That Katy Perry – such a patriot!
