Kelly Rowland Airs Out ‘Dirty Laundry’ About Abuse + Beyonce on New Track
Kelly Rowland gets dramatically confessional on a new track, ‘Dirty Laundry.’ She drops bombshells one would expect from ‘Rated R’-era Rihanna: Some fool was actually beating this third of Destiny’s Child, one of the singers of ‘Independent Women!’
And what’s worse? The guy turned her against Beyonce until Rowland came to her senses.
Intense doesn’t even describe it. Here’s a sampling of the lyrics from the track, which shed a lot of revelations on Rowland’s life post-Destiny’s Child:
“When you’re soaked in tears for years / It never airs out / This dirty laundry, this dirty laundry / When you make pain look this good it never wears out / This dirty laundry, this dirty laundry / When my sister was onstage killin’ it onstage like a motherf—er / I was enraged / Feelin’ it like a motherf—er / Bird in a cage / You would never know what I was dealin wit’ / Went our separate ways / But I was happy she was killin’ it / Bittersweet / She was up, I was down / And although I feel good for her / What do I do now / Forget the records / Off the record / I was going through some bulls— / Pull survivor / She on fire / Who’d wanna hear my bulls— / Meanwhile this n—- puttin’ his hands on me / Swear y’all don’t know the half of this industry.”
“Kinda lucky I was in her shadow,” she admits before insinuating that Beyonce urged her to get out. However, whoever was abusing Rowland in the song knew Queen Bey was planting seeds of self-respect in Rowland’s mind and tried to pin the women against one another, with Rowland singing, “Turned me against my sister.”
That’s heavy stuff, but we’re beyond happy that Rowland escaped a dangerous situation with her spirit, soul, talent and sisterhood in tact. Don’t mess with the Queen Bey or Michelle Williams — they’re ‘Survivors’ (and they’re featured on her new album).
