Lady Gaga is coming to Justin Bieber's defense.

On Tuesday night (May 5), Mother Monster #latergrammed a Met Gala photo of herself cozying up to the Biebs, captioning the adorable snap with an even more heartfelt statement.

"He really has a sweetness to him. He grew up in front of the whole world," Gaga wrote about the selfie, which features Justin standing behind her as she closes her eyes.

"I reminded him to not get bothered," Lady Gaga continued. "Because at the end of the day. He's the boss, and life isn't always Roses. Lots of thorns."

And there's no denying that JB has dealt with his fair share of thorns: Between multiple run-ins with the paparazzi, two arrests, a smiling mug shot, countless lawsuits and more, Justin is well aware of the pitfalls of fame. But what sets him apart from other celebs who have gone through downward spirals is that he's busy building himself up and bettering his public image.

"There was really no preparing me for this life. I was thrown into this at 12 years old and I didn't really know what I was getting myself into," Justin announced at this Comedy Central Roast. "There's been moments I'm really proud of and a lot of moments I look back and I'm pretty disappointed in myself for. But the things that I've done really don’t define who I am. I'm a kindhearted person who loves people, and through it all I lost some of my best qualities. For that, I'm sorry."

"What I can say is that I'm looking forward to being someone that you guys can all look at and be proud of. Someone you can smile at and see some of yourself in," he added at the time. "Someone close to me once said, 'It's how you rise from a fall that truly defines you as a man.' I'm excited for that challenge."
