First off, let me state for the record, I love "cheesy" pop songs. Always have-always will. Today's "Lost Classic" has to fall into that category.

It's not a bad thing, at all. It reflects a simpler time in music, in my opinion. Walter Egan is from Jamaica, New York and had 4 songs that would end up on the charts, but non of them broke into the top-40, except one. You may remember hearing this on the radio  in 1978, when it went all the way to #8 (on the charts). He had some help on the backing vocals from Fleetwood Mac-er's; Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

This "Lost Classic" comes off Egan's album "Not Shy," which was co-produced by Buckingham and inspired by Nicks.

Where is he now?

Egan lives in Tennessee and is a substitute teacher. What you may not know, is that he also received co-writing credit on Eminem's hit, "We Made You". Producer, Dr. Dre says that the base line of Egan's "Hot Summer Nights" was the inspiration for the song and even uses samples of it in the song.

Enjoy the cheesiest of cheese with Walter Egan's "Magnet & Steel".
