Remember the old story your parents used to tell you about how they had to walk 10 miles in the snow uphill and downhill just to get to school.  Well we all know that was probably not true it was more like 2 miles, but hey who is counting.  Apparently, a mother in Jonesboro, AR, punished her child by making him walk 4.5 miles to school.  The mother was given a citation and now faces one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Valerie Borders was cited for endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree.

Borders son, Nequavion,  had lost his bus privileges to ride for the 5th time and she chose to make him walk to school as punishment.

According the KAIT8 News the Nequavion said:

"She did the right thing." "She knew that I had been suspended off the bus five days, so she didn't do nothing wrong. She made me walk. I just had to walk. They shouldn't have picked me up. I could've walked by myself."

Do you think that this mother should face charges for a punishment she placed on her son.

I personally don't know the area of Jonesboro, AR and if this child had to walk through dangerous neighborhoods to get to the school.

Do you think  the police were wrong in citing her or do you think the mother should not have punished her son in this way.
