Ryan Seacrest fell victim to Sacha Baron Cohen’s dictator at the 2012 Oscars. Thanks to Baron Cohen’s character — and Kim Jong Il — Seacrest had to change his outfit. Let us explain.

Baron Cohen, who was initially banned from the red carpet because the Academy feared something like this would happen, was in full regalia as his character from his upcoming film, ‘The Dictator.’ Poor Seacrest was on hand to ask who Baron Cohen (as “Admiral Aladeen”) was wearing. “John Galliano, but the socks are from K-Mart,” he deadpanned. “Saddam Hussein once said to me, ‘Socks are socks. Don’t waste money.’”

Seacrest asked how Aladeen felt about being at the Oscars. “It gave me an opportunity my dear friend and doubles tennis partner, Kim Jong-Il — it was his dream to come to the Oscars and to be sprinkled over the red carpet and over Halle Berry’s chest again.” Then, Baron Cohen as Aladeen spilled his ashes all over poor Seacrest’s tux!

What did the host with the most have to say about the incident? “I had a feeling something was coming. I didn’t know in what fashion or form.”
