Overnight Closures at the Interchange Remain in Place this Week

As the construction on the interchange at I-40/I-27 continues, the contractors need room and access to complete the project so that means more overnight closures.  The Texas Department of Transportation wants to remind you of the lane closures you can expect this week.   

Overnight road closures along the I-27/I-40 interchange on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 8 & 9. The eastbound I-40 ramp connecting to southbound I-27 will close to traffic beginning at 7 p.m. I-40 traffic wanting to access southbound I-27 will be detoured north around the work zone into downtown Amarillo to reconnect with I-27. The ramp closure and traffic detour are anticipated to remain in place until 7 a.m. both nights. No daytime ramp closures are planned during the operation.

Inside east- and westbound left lanes along I-40, between Nelson Street and I-27, will be closed throughout November to allow crews to safely make shoulder repairs.

Right east- and westbound lanes of I-40 will be closed at Eastern Street and Coulter Street to place erosion control mats.

Lane closures are scheduled for I-40 east and westbound from Hope Road to the Oldham County line for cable barrier repair.

All closures will take place weather permitting.
