Petroleum is a huge thing here in the Texas Panhandle and the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum is celebrating in a big way, with free admission.  Saturday is Petroleum Day at the Museum,  the PPHM will be celebrating the petroleum industry in the Texas Panhandle.   Plus they will be celebrating the upcoming renovation to The Panhandle Petroleum Story exhibit Don D. Harrington Petroleum Wing.

The Panhandle Petroleum Story exhibit first opened in 1986, telling the story of the petroleum industry and those petroleum pioneers in the Texas Panhandle.

The day will include fun activities, guest speakers, hot dogs, a special showing of the movie "Giant" lots of prizes.

Plus, visitors will have the opportunity to make a donation to fund the renovation of the wing.

The museum will be open this Saturday, 9a-6pm and admission is free.

Renovation of the wing is expected to begin in early 2015.
