Peppers on pizza is nothing new, but pepper spray?

A sheriff’s deputy in Orange County, California is in some extra-large trouble after he was accused of pepper spraying a motorist’s pizza during a traffic stop last year.

The 19-year-old driver was getting a ticket from Deputy Juan Tavera when Tavera spotted the pizza in the backseat and sprayed it without the teenager seeing him do it.

The driver continued home after the stop and shared the pizza with four friends, all of whom got sick. Thinking Tavera may have had a hand in the incident, the driver called police.

Tavera, who's been with the department for six years, is now on paid administrative leave. If convicted of assault or battery by a public officer, he could wind up in jail and, ironically, be looking at a future delivering pizzas.
