As I was looking over a stories this morning I ran across an interesting article about a Australian woman about to undergo a Uterus transplant with the uterus donor being her mother.  As I read through this article it because clear that I had just watched an episode of Private Practice about this same situation.

According to an article on WXII12.com:

An Australian woman born without a uterus will undergo a transplant to receive her mother's womb in hopes of giving birth.

While this is not the first attempt at a human uterus transplant, none have resulted in successful pregnancies.

Arnold would need to wait 12 months after the transplant before attempting a pregnancy through IVF.

The mother and daughter are expected to undergo the transplant sometime next year.

Did the Private Practice writers rip this story line from the headlines when writing the episode Deal With It?  You be the judge.  Watch the episode here.
