The incarcerated Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice, husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, is facing deportation as he approaches the end of his three-year sentence, according to NBC.

Giudice, who pleaded guilty with Teresa to bankruptcy fraud in 2014, is serving a 41-month sentence, and because he migrated to the United States as an infant from Italy — and has never become an official citizen — could be sent back to his home country upon his March 2019 release, or even before he completes his sentence. In fact, he's in official removal proceedings with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an ICE spokesman told the site, and the agency has an official detainer on him.

Still, Giudice's team has insisted to People that reports pointing to the man's deportation are false.

“I can state with absolute certainty that no decision has been made regarding the immigration status of Joe Giudice,” the family's attorney James J. Leonard Jr. said. “The same immigration detainer that was lodged against him in March of 2016 remains in place today, but I want to be absolutely clear about this, no judicial authority has made any decision regarding what will happen with that detainer.”

“Mr. Giudice has immigration counsel who are and have been working aggressively on his behalf so that he can return home to his wife and four young daughters and we remain optimistic that that is how this will end," he added.

Teresa completed her 15-month jail sentence in December 2015.
