Rico.

Suave.

If you listened to pop radio in the winter of 1991, then you're very familiar with those two words from Gerardo.

Gerardo is considered a one-hit wonder with that top 10 hit, it peaked at #7 on the Billboard charts. He did have a follow up single, We Want The Funk, which reached #16 on the same chart, but he will always be remembered as 'The Rico Suave Guy.'

The big question is what has he been up to since dominating the airways in 1991 and what is he doing now? You may be surprised.

Gerardo fell off the music making map late in 1991, oddly enough with a song called When The Lights Go Out, but he still has his hands in the music business. He's currently the  Artist and Repertoire (A&R) Director for Interscope Records and is following his passion as a youth pastor

As an A&R guy he brought Enrique Iglesias to the attention of Interscope Records and signed rapper Bubba Sparxxx.
