Sherri Shepherd thought someone tried breaking into her house when her security system went off. It was a false alarm, but it shook her enough to want to buy a gun.

Shepherd revealed on the April 25 episode of 'The View' that she was petrified when her alarm went off (its message: "Warning! Intruder, get out of the house!"). The cops arrived to her New York City home within seven minutes and told her it was a false alarm.

Shepherd was at home with her husband, Lamar Sally, and son Jeffrey at the time of the incident.

“I’m trying to calm Jeffrey down and all I had was this wicker basket,” Shepherd said (via Radar Online). “I have nothing, a bat, nothing. We’re going to get a gun.”

Just an idea, but Shepherd lives in NYC, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the county: Maybe just ... get the bat first?
