Last month Canada joined countries like Australia and Great Britain in eliminating the penny. Is the United States next?

According to a new poll from Rasmussen of 1,000 American adults, 51 percent would be opposed to the elimination of the penny. Thirty-one percent favor getting rid of the copper currency and 19 percent are either not sure or have no opinion on the matter.

It costs a little more than a cent to manufacture the penny, although its material value is still less than a cent. So, what do you think?
