Britney Spears is reportedly interested in taking a judging seat on the next season of ‘X Factor,’ and now Simon Cowell is responding to the claims. The show is currently looking to replace ousted judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.

According to Us Weekly, show creator Simon Cowell hasn’t confirmed who will or won’t be rounding out the judges’ panel, but he is flattered by the interest. “I couldn’t comment on it,” the 52-year-old said about Spears and rumored candidate Janet Jackson. “Are we flattered that there could be interest? Yes. Other than that, there’s going to be a lot of twists and turns over the next few weeks and a lot of things we’re going to announce.”

However, Cowell did confirm that two new women and two hosts will be cast for the upcoming season. “It’s almost impossible to have one person doing this hosting job. You’ve got so much information now on telephone lines, the integrations of the sponsors — [the hosts are] like newscasters now,” he explains.

He adds that he’s always wanted a male and female host, and says ‘X Factor’ is stepping up its game in light of the competition. “I think we’ve learned how we can make the show better,” he continued. “I like the fact that it’s got very competitive now [against 'The Voice' and 'American Idol']. It’s kind of exciting.”
