'Supernatural' fans, the beginning is nigh! Just the other day saw we got our first look at season 9 footage via promo from the season 8 Blu-ray release, but now a proper preview for the Winchester brothers' latest adventures has emerged. The war for hell rages, Julian Richings' Death returns, and the angels face clipped wings in the first official trailer for 'Supernatural' season 9!

Off the bat, it looks as if Sam fared far worse in aborting the third trial than we might have thought, ending up in a hospital bed at Death's door (literally) for his trouble. Other shots seem to show Sam and Dean in a surreal landscape, so what might Dean have had to go through to get his brother back? Could 'Battlestar Galactica' vet Tahmoh Penikett have something to do with it, as seen in a brief shot?

Elsewhere, Abaddon (Alaina Huffman) has definitively returned, ready to claim Crowley's throne as the King of Hell, and make the newly-mortal angels bow to her rule. Plus, explosions! Everything needs explosions.

Premiering October 8, ‘Supernatural’ season 9 will feature the return of longtime series star Jim Beaver as his character Bobby Singer in an unknown capacity, while Felicia Day‘s Charlie Bradbury has been announced to pop up as well, and ABC ‘Whodunit’ host Gildart Jackson will appear in a significant “Men of Letters” flashback. Executive producers Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer have otherwise previewed the CW drama’s ninth year, particularly the expanded role angels would play in the mythology going forward, and a secret that Dean will be keeping from Sam.

Well, what are you waiting for? Preview 'Supernatural' season 9 in the trailer teaser above, and give us your predictions for the year in the comments!
