Hunger is a real thing here in the Texas Panhandle. You would be amazed at how many people and families go hungry on a daily basis. One in 7 people here in the Texas Panhandle are food insecure. That's 77,000 people. That's why this Saturday couldn't come at a better time. Right now the High Plains Food Bank is in need of food donations. Twenty-four years ago the National Association of Letter Carriers started an event called Stamp Out Hunger to help out the hungry. This Saturday they will continue that tradition and will collect food for the High Plains Food Bank.
