'Dallas' Season 3: TNT Renews for Additional Year

Both the 'Dallas' legacy and TNT's revival of the long-running soap opera suffered an immense blow this past year when legendary actor and original series star Larry Hagman lost his battle with cancer. TNT managed to write the actor's death into a storyline for Havman's wily J.R. Ewing to exit the series, but now we've learned that 'Dallas' will live on regardless. TNT has officially ordered a third season of the revitalized soap, but what else will change about 'Dallas' season 3?

As TV and 'Dallas' fans alike well know, production of the second season of TNT's revival series experienced a tragic loss when long-time series star Larry Hagman lost his battle with cancer. As Hagman had already shot a number of episodes as his oil magnate character J.R. Ewing, TNT decided to move forward with the series by paying respect to Hagman's passing with a funeral for his character, one that was said to draw out a number of past 'Dallas' stars not yet introduced on the series. Every Friday night growing up our TV was turned onto CBS because my mother's favorite show was Dallas. J.R. Ewing, the oil tycoon and the drama of his family, totally made the show. Seriously, who doesn't remember the season where they tried to find out who shot J.R., or the shower scene when Bobby returns and it was all a dream. It was that show that made TV history and it is that show that is returning to TV.
